Delve into the works of Nobel Prize-winning authors like Wisława Szymborska and Czesław Miłosz—Poland’s literary scene is both profound and influential.

Students interested in learning Polish for the first time can enroll in Elementary Polish (L1 and L2), while Intermediate Polish (L3-L4) and Advanced Polish (L5) are taught regularly.

The Polish program also collaborates with the Yale Polish Club to host renowned guest speakers, organizes events like Polish mardi-gras, and regular meetings.

Polish Language Faculty

Polish Courses Taught Regularly

A comprehensive introduction to elementary Polish grammar and conversation, with emphasis on spontaneous oral expression. Reading of original texts, including poetry. Use of video materials.


 

A reading and conversation course conducted in Polish. Systematic review of grammar; practice in speaking and composition; reading of selected texts, including poetry. Use of video materials.


 

Improvement of high-level language skills through reading, comprehension, discussion, and writing. Focus on the study of language through major literary and cultural texts, as well as through film and other media. Exploration of major historical and cultural themes.
