November 5, 3:00pm | Join Leonid Volkov, 2018 World Fellow, for a round-table discussion, “The Caucasus and Greater Russia: An Eternal Love-Hate Relationship and its Social, Political, and Cultural Perspectives,” on political Islam and the everyday life of Russia’s Muslim regions, featuring Alisa Ganieva, a prominent Russian writer of Dagestani origin. Ms. Ganieva is the author of two novels: The Mountain and the Wall and Bride and Groom. Her books have won a number of awards, including the Voloshin Literary Award (2007, 2009), the Debut Prize (2009), and the Gorky Prize (2008). She teaches Creative Writing at the University of Iowa.
