2010 ACTR National Post-Secondary Essay Contest
Once again, several students in our undergraduate language classes were winners in the annual ACTR Essay Contest. In this year's contest, there were 1,023 essays submitted from 64 universities and colleges across the United States. Our winners are:

Graduate Study Abroad Program
Nicholas Kupensky is our first student to participate in the Graduate Study Abroad program at Rossiiskii Gosudarstvennyi Gumanitarnyi Universitet (RGGU) Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow. For more information click RGGU.
Awards and Recognition
Professor Tomas Venclova has recently been awarded honorary doctorates from Gdansk University in Poland, and Kaunas Vytautas the Great University in Lithuania.
Professor Robert Greenberg has been awarded the William Clyde DeVane Medal in recognition of his distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching. The medals are awarded yearly by the Yale Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at their annual dinner. The medal is named for William Clyde DeVane, who was dean of Yale College 1938-1963 and served as president both of the Yale and United Chapters of Phi Beta Kappa.
Zakhar Ishov received the 2009 Charles Hall Grandgent Award for best submission by a graduate student from The Dante Society of America for essay entitled "Introduction to Poetry in the Form of Poetry: Dante Read by Mandelstam."
